Due to continued business growth, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Assessor to join our team!  Waterside specialises in Electrical and Mechanical engineering for industry, working with some of the biggest names in food, drink, plastics, pharmaceuticals and chemicals in the North West.  Our team has in-depth expertise of industrial plant and processes, and we set a high standard of training for our growing base of apprentices and workforce learners.

The role is flexible and we are looking for either a part time or full time person to join our team.

This role is to develop the skills of apprentices and workforce employees in an industrial environment in delivering Engineering Apprenticeships. You will be setting the highest technical standards in Electrical Maintenance Engineering and inspire learners to reach their full potential, as well as working closely with our client representatives throughout the learning programmes. The Electrical Assessor will provide support and guidance to apprentices and workplace employees by inspiring learner’s to reach their full potential.

As an Electrical Assessor, you will manage and assess a group of learners currently undertaking an Engineering Maintenance programme or Workforce Development assessing to NVQ Level 3 standards or equivalent apprenticeship standards.

A key part of the assessing role will be liaising, organising and carrying out reviews, action planning work and carrying out observations and assessments to track learner progress and provide feedback to the learner and the client representatives developing relationships between both parties identifying and monitoring sufficient work placements for learners, planning, organising and preparing candidate visits in their working environment relevant to the applicable apprenticeship standards.

To assess candidate’s performance to applicable standards, carry out reviews, observations and assessments in line with the standards and complete the necessary paperwork and electronic systems to update learner progress and keep accurate records for each learner. Give guidance, direction and learning to reduce any gaps in learning.

In line with organising reviews and reporting on apprentice performance you will need to proactively liaise with both learner and client site at all times to organise meetings and during review meetings provide full support and feedback on progress to both parties. As part of the review process you may need to give the appropriate guidance on work based performance.

As part of the assessment team, you will also be required to provide support to the recruitment and induction process by assisting with the process, including supporting school career events and equivalent marketing events.

In line with Health and Safety requirements of students on placement you will need to carry out Health and Safety Audits when required and work within policies on Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities as specified in the Waterside Employee Handbook.

You will be responsible for maintaining your own diary and work autonomously, keeping to agreed timescales in a busy office. You will be required to travel to various locations to complete reviews and observations of the learner. As some local and UK Travel will be a requirement of this position, a car and full clean driving licence will be required for this post.

You will undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training in relation to the job role and to undertake any other duties relevant to the grade of this post.

Candidates should have served an Electrical Engineering Maintenance apprenticeship and obtain an NVQ Level 3 and HNC Level 4 in Electrical Engineering. An assessing qualification of either CAVA, TAQA, A Units or TDBL D32/D33 will be required, however, training will be given if an assessing qualification is vacant.

The candidate should be a good team player with the ability to work flexibly and autonomously to plan and organise workload along with being able to confidently communicate with learners and representatives to meet their learning needs.
