Well done to all our new Waterside apprentices who have just completed their extended first year induction.  This was an intense 7 day session where the apprentices get familiar with what their programmes involve, as well as covering many key safety skills essential for working in industry - including Dynamic Risk Assessments, Manual Handling and First Aid at Work.

The highlight though was the team building day, where the apprentices got to work with each other properly for the first time.  Games included making fires the old fashioned way, and skipping together as a large group.  The main challenge was to make rockets to fire eggs as far as possible without breaking them - two groups did well, the third ended up scrambled!  Later on in the year, the apprentices will be sent on a longer outdoor residential course where the challenges will be much tougher...!

The induction finished with a presentation day, where the apprentices worked together to create and deliver a group presentation to employer and Waterside staff.  Speaking in front of a large audience was a new experience for many and the group carried it off very well.

Now comes the hard work as the apprentices start their industrial and technical training...we wish them all the best!
